Simple X Video Downloader is a Chrome extension that helps users download videos from X/Twitter pages. This Privacy Policy explains what data the extension handles, how that data is used, and what is not collected.

Single Purpose

The single purpose of Simple X Video Downloader is to let users download videos they are allowed to save from X/Twitter pages. The extension adds a simple download button to supported video pages and saves a detected video only when the user chooses to download it.

Data the Extension Handles

The extension may process website content from X/Twitter pages in order to detect downloadable video media. This may include:

• Video media URLs from X/Twitter pages.
• Video playlist URLs and video segment URLs.
• Limited visible post text used only to create a readable download filename.
• The current X/Twitter tab context needed to connect the toolbar popup with the page being used.

This data is processed locally on the user’s device.

Data the Extension Does Not Collect

Simple X Video Downloader does not collect, store, sell, or share:

• Personal information.
• Health information.
• Financial or payment information.
• Authentication information.
• Personal communications.
• Location information.
• Browsing history.
• User activity tracking data.

The extension does not use analytics, advertising trackers, cookies, or a remote tracking server.

How Data Is Used

Website content and video media URLs are used only to provide the extension’s download feature. Specifically, the extension uses this data to:

• Detect whether an X/Twitter page contains a downloadable video.
• Show a download button on supported videos.
• Start a download when the user clicks the download button.
• Save the selected video file to the user’s device through Chrome’s download system.

The extension does not use this data for profiling, advertising, analytics, resale, or any purpose unrelated to the extension’s single purpose.

Local Processing and Retention

Detected video URLs are kept temporarily in extension memory so the download button and toolbar popup can work. They are not uploaded to any server controlled by the developer.

Temporary detected video entries are automatically discarded after a short period or when the related browser tab is closed. Downloaded files are saved only to the user’s own device.

Permissions

The extension requests the following Chrome permissions:

• downloads: used to save the selected video file to the user’s device after the user clicks download.
• tabs: used to identify the active X/Twitter tab so the toolbar popup can work with the correct page.
• webRequest: used to detect video media requests from X/Twitter pages and find the downloadable video file or playlist.

The extension also requests access to:

• x.com
• twitter.com
• video.twimg.com
• related X/Twitter media domains

This site access is required to add the download button to X/Twitter video pages and process video media URLs when the user starts a download.

Remote Code

Simple X Video Downloader does not use remote code. All JavaScript code is included inside the extension package submitted to the Chrome Web Store. The extension does not load or execute externally hosted scripts.

Third-Party Sharing

Simple X Video Downloader does not sell, transfer, or share user data with third parties.

When a user downloads a video, the browser may request media files directly from X/Twitter media servers as part of normal page and media loading behavior. The developer does not receive those requests or the downloaded content.

Chrome Web Store User Data Policy

The use of information received from Chrome APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Children’s Privacy

Simple X Video Downloader is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy
